Solid conservatory roofs are the perfect way to turn a conservatory which is too hot in summer and too cold in winter into a useable living space all year round. Our solution to the problem of conservatories which fluctuate in temperature is the Hybrid roof - which combines a solid vaulted roof with glass panels. Our hybrid roofs are constructed from aluminium or insulated composite external panel and 125mm of insulation to ensure your conservatory is kept cool in summer and cosy and warm in winter.

Learn more about Hybrid Roofs

By seamlessly merging the solid and glass parts together, our Hybrid conservatory roof can create a beautiful light-filled room which maintains a comfortable temperature in all seasons.

Because our Hybrid roofs are completely bespoke, they can be designed to replace an existing glass or polycarbonate roof on almost any conservatory - even if it was not originally fitted by us. To do this, we visit your home to take a few calculations in order to ensure the solid conservatory roof you choose complies with building regulations and can meet its structural load requirements.

Our highly-skilled fitters usually complete these projects in a matter of days. And there's minimal disruption to you because all of the original windows, doors, frames and walls are retained.

Having chosen the lay-out and positioning of the glass panels, you'll be left with a stunning vaulted ceiling that's completely bespoke and maximises the natural light coming into your property.

Once finished, the solid panels are plastered and decorated like a normal interior ceiling, allowing you to choose the colour scheme which fits best with your home. Our Hybrid roof can also have suspended lighting, low energy LED spot lights or a lighting pelmet around its perimeter, creating a light-filled space that adds value to your home.

What type of conservatory will the Hybrid roof fit?

Whether you've got an existing conservatory or are considering a new one, the Hybrid roof is perfect for any size or style. They can also be retro-fitted onto most conservatory styles.

Do I need planning permission for a solid conservatory roof?

Hybrid roofs do not usually need planning permission.

According to guidance issued by the Department of Communities and Local Government (DCLG) in September 2010, a conservatory or orangery must have a significant proportion of translucent walls and roof – although a minimum or maximum percentage is not stated.

When adding a Hybrid roof, Building Regulations approval is NOT needed if your project is:

  • At ground level - and be less than 30m2 in floor area.
  • Thermally separated from main dwelling - by walls, windows or doors
  • Unattached to dwelling’s main heating system.

If work is carried out that significantly reduces the proportion of glazing or translucence, the project is no longer considered exempt - and the whole structure WILL require approval from the local authority. Click here for more details.

If planning is required, we can remove the hassle by securing permission on your behalf – making sure your project is 100% compliant.
