Flat roofs

EYG’s flat solid roofs use EPDM rubber roofing - the most effective roofing material which provides waterproof, UV-proof and long-lasting protection for your garage or home extension.

Ageing felt roofs can be problematic when the material is old and damaged – allowing water into the fabric of the building, which in turn causes problems.

Re-vamp your leaking roof with our rubber (EPDM) flat roofs - quite simply the most cost-effective and best roofing material on the market.

Our flat roofs are incredibly long-lasting and durable, hard to tear or damage, and very quick and easy to install.

FAQs

What is the best material for a garage roof replacement?

Your garage roof is leaking and everything inside is at risk of getting ruined. What do you need to do?

Well, you probably don’t want to spend tens of thousands on a new roof which is there purely for practical purposes.

You don’t need to have an insulated roof or plastered interior finish. After all, it’s just a garage. So don’t fall for expensive quotes for something that you won’t benefit from.

An EPDM (Ethylene Propylene Diene Monomer) black roof is widely considered to be the best roofing material for a replacement roof for garages and flat roof extensions.

This rubber roofing material is durable, weatherproof, and resistant to extreme temperatures, which is why it’s such a popular choice for flat roofs. The good news is, it is also reasonably-priced, so you can re-vamp your old leaking roof with something that is affordable, long-lasting and maintenance-free.

What is the difference between traditional felt and asphalt roofs and EDPM roofs?

An EPDM roof is quicker and easier to install, as it doesn’t involve dangerous heating processes, unlike felt and asphalt.

It is also much more durable and completely maintenance-free, unlike the other two options, and won’t even need cleaning.

Asphalt roofs have dominated across the UK for decades and yet they are susceptible to leaking and only last for around 10 to 15 years.

Felt has a similar life span to asphalt, and can also be susceptible to rotting and leaking.

EPDM is now fast becoming the UK’s most popular roofing material due to its far superior weatherproof properties.

It can also last for at least twice as long as asphalt and felt roofing, making it more cost-effective too.

Can I carry out my own garage roof repairs?

Unless you are very skilled at DIY, garage roofing and roof repairs are best left to the professionals.

Checkatrade, which EYG as verified and approved members of, recommends that people hire a professional for roof repairs for several reasons, these include:

  • Working at heights can be dangerous for the untrained
  • Small repairs might be manageable but fitting an entire new roof material is a difficult task
  • If tackling multiple repairs, it is probably better and more economical to replace the entire roof material
  • Installing it yourself could lead to mistakes, and cause leaking which put the entire contents of your garage at risk of damage

Re-roofing a garage or side extension is not a big expense so can be carried out by a professional without breaking the bank and could save money in the long-term by weather-proofing your building and its contents.

The workman was excellent. Polite. professional and confident in what he was doing. Good job done. Will certainly recommend this firm, very pleased with my new door. Thank you.

Mr and Mrs Oliver, October 2025

We are very happy with our garden room that was delivered and erected by EYG. It was one of the largest, fully plastered rooms they have built at 6 x 3m and looks excellent. Every step of the way the EYG team were very professional and all build teams were friendly and efficient. The salesman Trevor at Langlands garden centre, Jeremy at the Hull office and Ian the construction manager, were all straight forward and provided the specification we required to the letter. Their customer service was first class. We would have no doubts about recommending EYG to friends and family.

Stuart Mogg, October 2025

Friendly and quality service at its best, from quote to install. The quote was made simple, quick and all options were explained. no waiting on a price once we had explained what we wanted it was calculated and we knew. Due to the professionalism and standard of detail we decided to use EYG and was the best decision we made. Scaffolding team were polite and had it up the in no time at all. The lads who came to install were polite, clean, professional, explained everything and the standard of work was fantastic. Will recommend EYG to anyone wanting new windows and doors.
