Garden rooms – a retreat suitable for all weathers and all seasons
15th November 2022
When you think of summerhouses or garden rooms, you tend to associate them with warm weather, perhaps lazing inside with a magazine or a summer cocktail.
Unfortunately, most timber summerhouses will only be useable in the summer months and be completely out of action from October through to April.
But having spent thousands of pounds, most home owners would want their investment to result in an extra room that they can enjoy in all seasons.
EYG’s garden rooms are insulated, and have double glazed windows and doors as standard, meaning they really are useable for 12 months of the year – even when temperatures plummet during the coldest winter months.
Our customers have adopted a wide range of uses for our garden rooms – which are made of a timber and UPVC frame which does not rot or warp, and requires no maintenance.
From a home gym, to offices, and even a bar, we have seen some amazing interiors from garden rooms that we have built for our customers.
And in the winter months, what could be cosier than transforming your summer house into a winter wonderland with twinkling fairy lights.
Here is a selection of some of our favourite EYG garden room interiors.
The Bar
This East Yorkshire garden room was one of the larger designs we have built, at an impressively-proportioned 4.5m x 3.5m.
It was constructed with our usual timber and UPVC frame, and clad in anthracite grey composite panels on the sides, and Scandi Oak cladding on the front.
The couple designed a bespoke bar which was handmade by a local craftsman, with integrated fridge, optics and a sink.
They were thrilled with their bar, which was kitted out with bar stools and pub-style table and chairs.
The owner said: “It’s exactly how we imagined it, and we couldn’t be happier. It’s the perfect temperature whether it’s a cold or warm day, it feels really cosy and yet it’s light and airy too. The build was flawless, and we can’t wait to invite our family and friends around to enjoy a few drinks in here.”
The relaxation space
Vince and Linda from Lincolnshire also invested in a larger than average garden room, as they knew they wanted to host family in there for special occasions.
The retired couple said they loved relaxing in their garden room, which was clad in three different colours – anthracite grey, cream, and Chartwell Green – which matched their existing garden furniture.
Vince said: “We just come in here sometimes of an afternoon. If it's not warm enough to sit outside, we can sit inside here and play cards. We read, or sit with the iPads.
“The whole process has been very smooth and it took less than two weeks to build from start to finish, including the electrics.
“We love it, it’s wonderful. We are absolutely delighted with it.”
The Christmas grotto
You can really make a huge impact with decorations in a smaller space – as this little winter wonderland scene demonstrates.
This smaller garden room, which measures 2.5m x 3.5m, was decorated for Christmas with a tree and twinkling lights, and it really comes to life at night.
The garden room makes a cosy and festive retreat away from the hub of the home, and somewhere to sit and absorb the magic of Christmas in peaceful and tranquil surroundings.
This interior demonstrates perfectly how EYG’s garden rooms really are perfect for all seasons.
