Superb replacement conservatory roof in Gilberdyke

Stephen and Margaret White, Gilberdyke, East Yorkshire

Why did they choose EYG?

  • Conservatory that was only 10 years old was suffering from noise disturbance.
  • Polycarbonate roof was far too loud in windy and rainy weather.
  • Wanted to see if there was a quieter and more energy-efficient alternative.
  • Ditched old plastic roof for a new self-cleaning glass replacement.

What did we do?

Having discussed the benefits of a Hybrid roof, a tiled conservatory roof and a modern glass roof, the homeowner felt the self-cleaning glass option would offer the perfect amount of light, warmth and sound insulation for their requirements.

Removing the old and noisy polycarbonate roof was the first task to be carried out and this helped pave the way for the new installation.

Once the suitability of the existing supports had been confirmed, the frame of the new roof could be constructed.

The individual panels of energy-efficient glass were then positioned into place to complete the modernised appearance.

How long did it take?

  • Removing the polycarbonate panels and installing the new replacement conservatory roof took just two days.
  • “The old roof could be very loud when it rained and you could not really hear yourself think. The new replacement glass roof has made the room a much quieter and cosier place to relax,” explained Margaret, of Birch Close.
  • “We use the area as a dining room and family room to watch TV, and we’re finding we use it much more now than we did in the past. It’s a lovely space.
  • “EYG have done a number of projects for us over the last 15 years and we’ve always been happy. You can trust them to do a good job.”
