Stunning home make over featuring EYG's bifold aluminium doors

The couple had a traditional style house in Hull, east Yorkshire, and wanted to update it by adding aluminium bifold doors to connect their outdoor and indoor areas and allow more light in.

EYG also removed old wooden windows and replaced them with UPVC windows, with Victorian glass to blend with their period property.

Why did they choose EYG?

  • Had a traditional style house which required a lot of modernising but did not want it to look too modern.
  • Wanted windows to be made from uPVC but maintain traditional Victorian stained-glass appearance.
  • Needed aluminium bi-folding doors to allow open-plan kitchen-diner to lead onto outdoor area.
  • Improved their bedroom by installing French doors to form a Juliette balcony overlooking their garden.

What did we do?

Removing the old wooden windows and replacing them with modern double glazing and bay windows kick-started this major property transformation into life.

Once completed, the focus switched to the rear of the house and installing the bifold doors, which helped connect the inside to the garden and outdoor entertaining area.

Attention then turned to the upstairs master bedroom, where a large existing window was removed to enable the Juliette balcony and French doors to be positioned and fixed into place.

“When we bought the house, we knew the whole property needed bringing up to date,” explained Claire, of Boothferry Road in Hull.

"We opted for sleek-framed uPVC windows with Victorian glass so that they did not look too bulky or modern for the age of the property."

How long did it take?

  • This modernisation project had several different aspects, but the process took just 10 working days to complete.
  • Homeowner Clare added: “We were really keen to bring the outside in and the bi-fold doors have allowed us to merge our home and garden together.
  • Now we sit at our dining table to eat, but with the doors open it feels as if we're outside.
