New south facing conservatory installed by EYG

A couple from Beverley in east Yorkshire wanted a new extra room for their home and opted for a conservatory with full-length glass panels to maximise the light flooding in from their south-facing garden.

The conservatory we built was very modern, with patio doors and tinuted glass to prevent the room from becoming too warm in the summer.

Why did they choose EYG?

What did we do? 

Our design team discussed the aims of the project with Mr and Mrs Hawkes and they decided they wanted to have a conservatory, rather than an orangery, as they wanted more glass to enable as much light as possible to enter their home.

This saw our teams design a conservatory 5m x 2m in size, with floor to ceiling glass panels around all three sides of the conservatory. Tinted energy efficient glass roof panels were also added to help reduce the impact of sunlight on the brightest, summer days, and ensure a comfortable feel at all times. Double patio doors ensure easy access to and from the garden.

Installation was completed in two stages. Firstly, foundations were completed in three days and left to settle for a week, before the conservatory was built over a three day period. In total, our team were on site for less than a week to complete the installation.

How long did it take? 

Mr Hawkes said: “The conservatory is wonderful and it has transformed the way we live in our home. We sit in it throughout the day and have breakfast, lunch and dinner in there, looking out on to our garden.

“We opted for a conservatory as we wanted to enjoy our garden more and it has certainly helped us to do that. It is like being in the garden when you are in there. We’ve never had a conservatory at any house before and we are delighted we chose to have one now.

“The EYG team could not have been nicer and more helpful. They were really decent people, reliable and hard-working. We were told when they would come and they were here exactly when they said they would be.

“They were friendly and polite and what I really liked was their commitment to ensuring everything was 100% right, even down to making sure the steps from the conservatory were exactly as we wanted them.
