Hybrid conservatory roof in Doncaster

Michael and Diane Longworth, Doncaster

Why did they choose EYG?

  • Existing conservatory very under utilised
  • Wanted to stop extreme temperature fluctuations
  • Eager to use living space all year round
  • Meticulously researched conservatory roof options
  • Wanted a visibly attractive Hybrid roof

What did we do?

After carefully taking down the old polycarbonate roof, it took a day to construct the main carry beam and ring beam to bear the load of the new lightweight Hybrid roof.

We then fitted the basic roof structure and panels before handing over to an electrician appointed by the homeowner, who had previous experience of working in the building trade.

To complete the transformation, we plastered the interior ready for decorating and neatly tied the Hybrid roof into the brickwork with lead flashing – creating a family room for all seasons.

How long did it take?

  • Removing the existing roof and installing the new main beam took just one day and the rest of the roof took a week to complete.
  • The electrical work, plastering and decorating took a few days so the whole project was complete in a fortnight.
  • “We wanted it to be somewhere we could relax and enjoy looking out at the garden so we opted for a Hybrid roof. It wasn’t the cheapest option available, but we felt it was the right one for our needs and it was also one of the most visually appealing," explained Michael, of Rosebank Cottage in Doncaster.
  • “It only took two weeks to complete from start to finish and EYG’s workmanship was first class. Very neat, very tidy and meticulous in every way. It’s a lovely place to relax.”
