Amazing replacement conservatory roof in Hornsea

Brian and Ruth Hodgkinson, Greenacre Park, Hornsea

Why did they choose EYG?

  • Needed to revitalise an ageing and cold conservatory
  • Keen to make more use of the existing area
  • Eager to create luxurious all-year round living space
  • Wanted rid of existing plastic roof which was leaking and draughty
  • Impressed by EYG’s retro-fit tiled conservatory roof
  • Needed help to secure Building Regulation approval

What did we do?

When a conservatory is cold and seen better days, you don’t have to rip it down and start again. This retro-fit tiled conservatory roof in Hornsea is a great example of what can be done to turn a tired space from drab to fab!

Unfortunately, the original polycarbonate roof was leaking - causing mould and the cold to make this sizeable space almost uninhabitable during the winter months.

By removing the old plastic roof and replacing it with a modern tiled alternative, we instantly breathed new life back into a room which had felt a bit unloved and very underused.

With modifications made to the eaves and a new box gutter and exterior gutters added, attention turned to plastering and finishing the interior ceiling which is now packed with insulation.

Throughout the project we made sure the existing flooring was fully protected, with a new pelmet and downlighters incorporated into the final design to provide extra ambiance.

How long did it take?

  • From start to finish, we project managed this entire build (and helped to secure retrospective Building Regulations) so it only took a couple of months to complete.
