EYG’s bifold doors competition winner said: “I never expected to win!”

Last year we launched our biggest ever giveaway competition – to win a set of aluminium bifold doors – and hundreds of people entered in the hope of transforming their home for free.

This amazing prize was giving one lucky home owner the chance to have doors of their size, configuration and colour of their choosing manufactured and installed entirely free of charge.

When railway signaller Sarah from Barnsley entered the competition, she had zero expectations of winning but decided she’d give it a shot.

Sarah was selected at random and unbeknown to us, she was already in the midst of a huge renovation project of her 1930s house.

The entire house was getting transformed from top to bottom, so for Sarah, getting the call was a massive boost to her renovating efforts, which she shares with her followers on Instagram via her account @plum_stone_renovation.

With work and the renovation keeping her busy, when EYG’s marketing department called to deliver the good news, Sarah had all but forgotten about the giveaway.

Sarah said: “I had no expectations about winning at all. You enter a competition on social media with zero anticipation of winning them, so I was gobsmacked.

“When I got the call, I was actually feeling very, very unwell. I had covid for the first time and almost didn’t even answer the phone I was so poorly! And then I thought it was a scam!”

Sarah wasn’t in the position to accept the bifold doors until months later, when her extension was built and the opening created, ready for the installation of the bespoke anthracite grey bifold doors.

And now a year after that phone call, Sarah’s extension is complete, and she is finally enjoying the fruits of her hard work – and good fortune.

Sarah said: “I love the doors. I was really grateful they could be colour matched to a RAL code so they match both the outside and inside decor.

“They’ve made an incredible difference. My garden is 100 foot long and being able to see it all clearly through the huge glass panels has been a wonderful treat.”

Sarah said she’d be happy to recommend EYG to her family and friends and has been really thrilled with the finished result.
