Staff at EYG have pledged to raise £1,500 by running the Hull 10k to help their colleague who has to undergo hours of gruelling dialysis each week.

Seven members of the EYG Commercial and Trade departments are tackling the charity run, which takes place on June 8, to help colleague Adam Hudson, 36, who is awaiting a kidney transplant.

Adam, 36, a married father-of-one from Hull, underwent a kidney transplant nine years ago, however that has now failed and he is currently receiving four hours of dialysis every second day while he is waiting for a suitable donor.

EYG co-worker Brian Lee has organised the fundraiser, with a target set at £1,500, to give the family some support during the difficult time.

Brian said: “This is taking a considerable toll on Adam and his wife and son, and proving a challenge financially as well as emotionally.

“Adam is a valued member of the team at EYG so myself and other colleagues are taking part in the Hull 10k in the company team to try and help.”

Adam, who has worked at EYG for the seven years, said he is “deeply moved” by his colleagues’ support.

He said: “I'm deeply moved by the fundraiser that my friends at EYG and Brian organised for me.

“Words cannot express how grateful I am for the generosity and support during this challenging time. This fundraiser means so much more than financial assistance - it's a weight lifted off my shoulders that will allow me to focus on what's truly important without the constant worry about finances.”

The fundraiser was set for £1,500, and the team is fast approaching the target – but Brian said they’d be thrilled to exceed that amount.

He said: “Any donation is amazing, and we’ve been so touched by how generous people have been. It would be incredible to exceed our target and would help Adam and his family so much, we’d be genuinely so thrilled.”

Adam has expressed his gratitude for everyone who has donated so far, adding: “To everyone who contributed, whether through donations, sharing the fundraiser, or sending words of encouragement - thank you from the bottom of my heart.

“To my incredible friends at EYG and Brian who took the initiative to create this fundraiser, I'm forever thankful for your thoughtfulness and care.

“Your kindness has made an immeasurable difference in my life, and I'm overwhelmed by the support from this amazing community. I promise to pay this generosity forward when I can.”
