FLYING START FOR NEW GARAGE CONVERSION DIVISION
A new garage conversion division launched by Hull-based glazing and home improvement specialists, the EYG Group, has recorded six-figure sales in its first month.
Introduced at the end of 2008 as a way of helping home owners create much-needed extra space without the stress and cost of an extension, sales in the first four weeks topped the £100,000 mark.
Frank Saunders, EYG’s Marketing Director, said the results were well ahead of the company’s initial expectations.
He added: “The garage conversion initiative was launched to coincide with the festive season break when families often discuss budgets and home requirements for the year ahead. This year, because of the credit crunch, household costs are top of the agenda.
“We were already receiving requests from existing EYG customers for new ideas on space creation in the home and we were quietly confident that garage conversions would be popular and become a major part of our home improvement business in 2009 but we had not predicted such a flying start.”
Frank said: “Conservatories remain popular but homeowners now have a choice and many are opting to convert their garage into an integral part of the home for use as a study, office, playroom, dining room or an additional bedroom and in most cases planning permission is not required.”
EYG is one of the country’s leading independent glazing and home improvement specialists with a turnover in excess of £20m and employing more than 300 people, mostly at their Wiltshire Road, Hull, headquarters.
